RAR litigators possess the specialized knowledge and experience required when pursuing and defending appeals. Our lawyers have represented a broad range of clients, and have litigated a number of appellate proceedings where we were not trial counsel.
RAR’s experienced courtroom advocates deal with complex commercial matters surrounding all aspect of business litigation. We regularly appear before all levels of courts in Ontario for matters involving contractual disputes, shareholders’ disputes, securities, mergers and acquisitions, banking, insolvency, regulatory proceedings and real estate matters.
Our litigators represent clients in all areas of litigation involving breaches of the Competition Act, including cases concerning price fixing, conspiracy, marketing and advertising, and in relation to the protection of intellectual property rights.
RAR has extensive experience acting for clients in the construction industry, and regularly represents owners, developers, contractors, sub-contractors, equipment and material suppliers and developers on a broad range of construction matters. Our practice includes litigation surrounding claims for breach of contract, construction liens, trust claims, bond claims, delay claims and claims for insufficient workmanship.
Defamation and Media
RAR regularly advises clients with respect to libel and sander, defamation, publication ban and copyright related matters. Our litigators have acted for plaintiffs and defendants, individuals and corporations.
RAR handles various types of insolvency litigation, having appeared before bankruptcy and appellate courts. Our litigators have represented corporate debtors, secured and unsecured lenders and trade creditors. RAR has experience handling liquidations, receiverships and bankruptcies.
RAR is experienced in all aspects of mortgage enforcement litigation. Our litigators act for mortgagees and mortgagors, including financial institutions, real estate developers, businesses and individual investors. RAR has successfully assisted numerous mortgagees in commencing legal proceedings to obtain possession of property and to obtain judgment for any outstanding debt. We have also assisted mortgagors in obtaining additional time to refinance properties, and have defended against legal proceedings.
RAR represents a variety of clients in the sporting industry, including both professional and amateur sports leagues. Our lawyers have appeared before the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada on numerous occasions.
RAR regularly advises clients with respect to issues surrounding the freedom of information and the protection of privacy under both FIPPA and PIPEDA. In particular, our lawyers advise clients with respect to compliance issues, and act on applications for the disclosure of information. RAR also provides opinions on the permissible collection, use and disclosure of information.
